Tierpark Lüneburger Heide

The weather in northern Germany reminds me a little bit of Vancouver, since it is raining all day long. But why don’t visit the “Tierpark Lüneburger Heide” anyway?

The animal park is about 40 minutes by car. And when we arrived, it was pouring down. We thought about driving home first. We had our raincoats with us and finally decided to go in.  During the afternoon we even had a little sunshine.

Normally we are skeptical about zoos and animal parks. I can remember a zoo we visited when I was young from time to time; tigers running through the small cages all the time, you could see that that were disturbed. At least in Germany this luckily changed during the last years. My heart is still broken when I see the majestic bold eagle, sitting in a tiny enclosure. Especially when you did see these animals in nature. But at least the birds get some time to fly regularly and the cages for all animals got larger and more appropriate to the species.

Altogether we can recommend a visit in the “Tierpark Lüneburger Heide”. Especially on rainy days; it’s less crowded then! 🙂

Have a good weekend!
