Dresden – charming capital of Saxony

Dresden was the last place we visited during our vacation. As I already mentioned in my Leipzig posting Dresden has been almost entirely destroyed during World War 2. And this is why the city right next to the Elbe river is totally different from Leipzig. Almost all important old buildings have been reconstructed, the pedestrian area is totally new and in contrast to Leipzig there were many more tourists around. Dresden is a charming city with a really stunning architecture, no doubt about it. But Leipzig was more authentic and this is why we liked it better. When you are around this area you should visit both cities anyways, since they are only about an hour drive apart!
