Winterwalk in the Sauerland region

First of all a happy new year 🙂

There are things going on here, which I cannot understand at all. The Covid pandemic is still here, we still have restrictions and recommendations and many people just don’t care. One example: In TV and radio the small city of Winterberg, which is famous for snow and sledding areas, insisted on that people don’t visit Winterg, because it’s just too full at the moment.

And what is it, what people do? Correct, visit Winterberg. They just don’t care about that all facilities (including restrooms!) are closed. I heard in the radio this morning, that people living in this region complained about visitors who urinated in gardens and on their private properties. I don’t need to say that distance rules are hard to handle, when the slopes are crowded.

We decided to hike in this area nevertheless yesterday, but far away from Winterberg. You need to know that the “Sauerland” are is as large as 4462 km² and there are many nice places to walk. And, what a surprise, it was not crowded at all and we had a really decent 10km walk through a (sometimes muddy 😉 ) Winter wonderland.

And the really important part: We did not pee onto someones private property 🙂 .

Have a good start into 2021! 🙂 .
